The Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua (HCCOH) is pleased to announce their partnership with a new fiscal sponsor, the Hilo-Hāmākua Community Development Corporation (HHCDC), effective July 1, 2018. Established in the 1990s, following the closure of the sugar plantations in the Hilo-Hāmākua districts, the goals of HHCDC are to create community-based collaborations, provide technical assistance, operate as a vehicle to assist the residents of the Hilo-Hāmākua Coast in community-based, environmentally sound, economic development, and to preserve cultural/historical heritage and places.
HHCDC Mission Statement
Through rural community-based efforts the mission of the HHCDC, a CBED organization, is to assist in creating opportunities that preserve our environment, sustain our families, and improve the quality of life.
HCCOH looks forward to a productive future with HHCDC, providing culturally based programs and events that are guided by ancient Hawaiian wisdom, empowering the community to revitalize families, lands and cultural heritages.
